Free Video on Prospecting for gold - how to find it
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys -
Hey in this month's ICMJ Prospecting and Mining Journal issue is an article on placer paystreaks, part of a two part article series on finding paystreaks in a river environment. Its called "Reading A River: Finding The Paystreaks" (the magazine is a publication for prospectors and small scale miners) Earlier this summer, Joey Wilson of the ProspectingChannel.com and I teamed up to make a short video that would go with the article. The video is free to watch, and you dont need to read the article to enjoy the video, its independent enough to stand on its own. It came out pretty good, and I think you might enjoy watching it. Its about 20 minutes long. You can view the free video at www.prospectingchannel.com The prospectingchannel website also has a number of other free prospecting related videos, some of which you might enjoy as well. Chris |

Nice video good info, Good job.
I was thinking after I saw that video, what if you put a trap under the water in that small narrow area that the water was moving fast in. in that narrow area what if someone dug a hole two feet across and say 8 inches wide and 10 inches deep then put a metal tool box in that hole the same size. come back in a few weeks and there should have some small particles of gold in there with the sediment. |
Re: Free Video on Prospecting for gold - how to find it
During the times of normal water flows, little or no gold is moving, in fact little or no gravel moves - just light sand and clay. During times of serious flooding, thats when the gold moves (I did say exactly that in the video).
I know of guys who have been very successful doing what you suggest - creating a "sluice box" with gold catches in a stream. You just have to wait until a high water flood really stirs things up and moves some gold along the stream. Chris |
